Complete “Collection of Dragons and Snakes,” and you’ll find a specific Key Sigil , a Seelie , and the five lost books become part of your archive collection.

Finding Ema and “Collection of Dragons and Snakes”

The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku book location

Hydrological studies in byakuyakoku book location, in the light, beneath the shadow book location, before sun and moon book location, bathysmal vishap experimental records book location, finding ema and ‘collection of dragons and snakes’.

Just like the other world quest NPCs in Enkanomiya, Ema only shows up in Evernight , so you will need to use one of the many mechanisms to swap it to Evernight if you haven’t already.

Once you swap it, they’ll be standing where Enjou originally was in the ruins.

This book is the easiest to find, as you just buy it from the Yae Publishing House in Inazuma City .

You’ll need to complete this puzzle before you can drop into a hole where Date is.

To get Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku in Genshin Impact , you have to complete a puzzle and complete the world quest “ Date’s Challenge .” Once you solve both of puzzles, you can open a treasure chest with the book inside.

Blow up this wall to get to this puzzle solution.

To get this book, you’ll need to complete a series of puzzles behind a breakable wall in Dainichi Mikoshi . The wall originally has a ruin guard and some pyro barrels around it. Blow up the barrels to open up the wall and reveal the puzzle.

To get Before Sun and Moon in Genshin Impact , you’ll need to complete the world quest “ Antigonus ,” which starts from an NPC in Dainichi Mikoshi. It’s a straightforward quest, and it’ll guide you to where you need to go, with no puzzles in the way of completion. You’ll need to fight a ruin guard to complete the quest, though.

To get Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records , you need to head to an invisible island and do a short world quest called “ Tricolor File .” You’ll need to take the Phase Gate shown above to get to the area, and the NPC that starts the quest will show up nearly immediately on the forward path. The Tricolor File item is in the cyro-gated cage, so you don’t actually need to fight the other vishaps. The electro-gated cage does have a Key Sigil in it, so you’ll probably want to open that one, too.

'Collect the five lost books' in Genshin Impact: Book locations and quest guide

There is one quest in Genshin Impact's Enkanomiya that requires players to search for five lost books. While it sounds easy, Enkanomiya is a big area, and gamers probably won't be able to search for it without any clues.

To sum it up, Genshin Impact players need to complete four challenges to collect four books and buy the remaining one from a bookstore. Each challenge is located in Enkanomiya , so players are recommended to have access to all waypoints in the area for easier playthrough.

You can start the 'Collection of Dragon and Snakes' world quest by talking to an afterimage in The Narrows, Enkanomiya. The librarian will ask you to find five lost books and will give some hints as to where they're located.

1) 'The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku'

The most accessible book to obtain is 'The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku.' You can buy it from Yae Publishing House in Inazuma City for 1,500 Mora.

2) Location of 'Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records'

'Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records' can be obtained after completing the 'Tricolor File' quest. Since there is no waypoint near the Quest area, you need to use a Phase Gate north of Dainichi Mikoshi. On reaching the Vishap Research Lab, talk to the afterimage to start the quest.

There are three locked gates behind different elemental monuments, but you can go directly to the Cryo monument for a fast clearance.

Open the gate by using Cryo attacks and defeat the spawned Vishap. Inside the gate, investigate the shiny item on the ground to obtain the 'Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records' and complete the 'Tricolor File' quest.

3) Location of 'Before Sun and Moon'

You can only obtain the 'Before Sun and Moon' book after completing the 'Antigonus' world quest. During the task, you need to find Antei (an afterimage) and defeat a Ruin Guard. Both of them are located near a ruin southwest of The Serpent's Heart.

Once the Ruin Guard is defeated, you can investigate the shiny item that it dropped, which is the 'Before Sun and Moon' book.

4) Location of 'Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku'

For the 'Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku' book, you can get it by completing Date's Challenge in Genshin Impact . However, you need to complete one puzzle before reaching the NPC.

Follow the instructions below to complete the labyrinth puzzle:

Once you reach the underground, you will encounter a Luxurious Chest and an afterimage. Talk to the afterimage to start the world quest, 'Date's Challenge.'

In the quest, you need to complete yet another puzzle where you need to arrange a room into a mirror image. To complete the puzzle, you can follow the instructions below:

Once the Luxurious Chest is unlocked, claim the reward and head back to Date to complete the quest . Inside Date's secret room, there will be an Exquisite Chest with the 'Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku' book in it.

5) Location of 'In the Light, Beneath the Shadow'

There is no world quest to complete for the 'In the Light, Beneath the Shadow' book, but there are a few puzzles you need to go through.

The first one is located southwest of Dainichi Mikoshi, in a hole on the wall. It is a fairly easy task compared to the one before, and you can complete them by following the instructions below:

Go to the blue sigil wall in The Serpent's Heart and walk into the wall according to the correct order as shown in the wall earlier. A treasure chest will spawn, and you will receive the last book, 'In the Light, Beneath the Shadow.'

Now that you have collected all five books, return them all to the librarian in The Narrows, Enkanomiya. This quest will unlock the mirror library, where you will find a Luxurious Chest and a Key Sigil .

There are a total of five lost books that you can find during the Genshin Impact Collection of Dragons and Snakes Quest. We have listed all of their locations below.

Book #01 Location – Hydrological Studies In Byakuyakoku

Head on to the location marked on the map below to start with Date’s maze puzzle. Jump down from the nearest waypoint and you will come across two controls above the maze.

Solve the maze according to image shown below. After you’ve completed this maze, you will pick up another quest called Date’s Challenge. This will lead you to the second puzzle which you’ll have to solve to gain access to Date’s vault.

You will find switches on both sides of the room that will allow you to move the three walls in the room. Alter the walls such that the first wall is on the right, the second at the center and the third to the left. Once you have beaten this puzzle, talk to Date and he will open the door to his vault. You will obtain the second book over here.

Book #02 Location – In the Light, Beneath the Shadow

Starting from the central Dainichi Mikoshi waypoint, descend to your right. Drop down further to the lower levels until you come across some explosive barrels which you’ll have to blow up in order to create a hole in the wall. Go inside and you’ll find a simple puzzle. Complete this puzzle and you’ll gain access to a chest.

Now hop on to the wall behind this chest and you’ll be able to activate a hidden message in the form of a glowing pattern. Stand at the center of The Serpent’s Heart and you’ll notice the blue doors surrounding you will match same symbols on the wall. Walk into these doors one by one. You’ll earn the second book In the Light, Beneath the Shadow.

Book #03 Location – Experimental Records

This book is hidden on the island in Enkanomiya found just north of The Narrows. In order to make your way to this Island, use the small piece of land between The Narrows and Dainichi Mikoshi.

You’ll come across a water gate where you can make a jump. Take this water gate and you’ll find the hidden island. Keep following the path in front of you and you’ll reach the shade of Michiya, this is where you’ll be assigned with the world quest Tricolor File.

Complete this quest and then you’ll earn the Experimental Records.

Book #04 Location – Before Sun and Moon

You’ll start off at the Danichi Mikoshi waypoint which is at the southwest of the Island. This is your starting point. Head on to the location marked in the map below for the first book location.

Pick up the Antigonus World quest, complete this world quest and you will obtain the book of your choice as the main reward.

Book #05 Location – The Serpent And Drakes Of Tokoyokoku

Make your way to Inazuma and reach the Yae Publishing House as marked in the map below. Once you are there, you can buy the fifth book for 1500 Mora.

Genshin Impact - Lost Book Walkthrough

Search for the elemental marks.

Now that we know that someone actually took the book, we'll need to follow their trail! Leave Mondstadt and cross the bridge to find another purple sparkle on the left side (check with your Elemental Sight).

Afterwards the trail goes north a little bit towards Whispering Woods. It is not here though. Head up the mountain on the right and at the top you'll be able to find a camp of Hilichurls.

Investigate the marks and head east up the mountain. As you approach the marked area you'll find even more Hilichurls. Take care of them all and follow the dirt road towards the east and you'll be able to spot the purple sparkle again.

Find out which way the elemental marks lead

We now need to follow this trail pretty closely. You'll have to move a little bit, use your Elemental Sight, stop, and use it again. You'll see that the marks are actually floating and moving around. You're going to want to do this until you find a a large purple crack on the side of the mountain.

Approach them and watch the scene. We're going in there to get the book. Head inside and we'll take it from there!

Defeat the assailants

As we start head left and break the boxes to find a chest. Open it up and now we need to glide our way down to the other side.

As you go down you'll have several air currents going up that will keep you afloat so make sure to use them. You'll get to a platform as well so you can catch up on stamina if you need it, but you'll also find some lasers shooting horizontally that'll damage you if you move through them. The damage you take is minimal and it doesn't bump you off so don't worry too much about getting hurt.

Once you reach the other side, activate the Door of Resurrection and before going through the door there's an opening in the wall that has a chest behind it.

In the next room you'll see a pit with spikes. There's another coil on the wall that you have to activate to raise the platforms, which you have to cross in order to continue. Hit the coil in the hallway to open the door and proceed into the next room where you'll have some Hydro Slimes attack. Kill them all and activate the device to create an air current.

Use it and them some more Slimes will appear. You actually have a times this time around where you need to kill all 10 enemies within 30 seconds, but you'll get more time after every kill. It's pretty easy to do, but if you're having difficulties try using your Elemental Bursts to do some serious damage.

Defeat the Abyss Order assailant

Watch the scenes that follow where we finally manage to make the Abyss Mage talk and we'll get the book back. Grab the items down here and leave the dungeon (there's no chest here? what a ripoff!).

Talk to Lisa

Go back to Mondstadt and speak to Lisa in the Knights of Favonius' Library. Watch the scenes that play and afterwards pick up the Teyvat Travel Guide from the bookshelf.

Grabing the Travel Guide will bring Lisa's Quest Line to a close. Congrats! This will obviously continue in the future, but for now we're done!

Among the many world quests featured in Genshin Impact ‘s new Enkanomiya region, the Collections Of Dragons And Snakes world quest is one of the most tricky, as players need to find 5 lost books scattered throughout Teyvat. With that said, we will now tell you where you can find all the books needed to complete the Enkanomiya world quest, ”Collections Of Dragons And Snakes”.

Where to Collect the 5 Lost Books in Genshin Impact

As we said above, the books are located all the way through Teyvat. You can check out the location of each lost book, as well as a more in-depth guide on how to trigger the quests and solve the puzzles needed to get each book below.

Before Sun and Moon & The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku

After triggering the ”Collections Of Dragons And Snakes”, which can be done by going to the library and talking to Ema, you can get the first book, Before Sun and Moon, by completing the Antigonus world quest. You can trigger the quest by going to the northwest part of the Dainichi Mikoshi area and talking to the two NPCs near a cliff. Differently from all the other lost books, which can all be found in Enkanomiya, the second book, The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku, can be brought from the Yae Publishing House, in Inazuma City. The book is fairly cheap and can be brought for 1.500 Mora.

In the Light, Beneath the Shadow

Now things will get a bit tricky, as the In the Light, Beneath the Shadow book can only be acquired after you complete a secret puzzle. To reach the puzzle, you need to go to the Dainichi Mikoshi area. Once there, head to the location marked on the image below, where you will find a Ruin Guard, as well as a few exploding barrels. Hit the barrels to open a way into the ruins. Once inside, hit the mechanism and then switch to Whitenight. Once the switch happens, go back to the room and hit the other mechanism to open your way to the chess. After opening the chess, switch to Evernight and go back to the treasure room, where you will be able to interact with an Altar Pattern. Take a picture of the pattern and head to The Altar at The Serpent’s Heart. Once there, you just need to interact with the doors in the order shown on the wall to get a treasure chest featuring the In the Light, Beneath the Shadow secret book.

Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku & Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records

You can get the Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku secret book by completing the Date’s Challenge world quest. You can trigger the quest by entering the sealed room located at the center of the main labyrinth of Evernight Temple. Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records, the final book, can be acquired by going to the Vishap Research Lab, which you can do by going through a portal located in the northmost part of the Dainichi Mikoshi area. Once you arrive at the island, just go forward and face the enemies to get it.

How to Complete the 5 Lost Books World Quest in Genshin Impact

After completing the world quest and finding all the 5 lost books in Genshin Impact, just go back to the library and talk to Ema again. After doing that, just put the books back on their shelves and head to the specified point to complete the quest. After completing the quest, players will receive the “If Tokoyo Ookami Knew of This…” achievement as well as 20 Primogems and 25.000 Mora.

How to collect the five lost books in Genshin Impact

You'll need to complete the Dragons and Snakes collection.

Enyanomiya is the underground area of Inazuma in Genshin Impact . It’s made of several isolated islands you can reach by gliding and features countless puzzles for players to solve.

This hidden area, accessed through a magic pool , also includes an Evernight mechanic players can use to change the landscape and activate some secret mechanisms.

The Collection of Dragons and Snakes quest is one of those. The NPC giving the quest will only appear in Evernight mode, so make sure you have it activated.

To help you collect the five lost books, Ema, the Last Librarian, will give you clues. The map won’t help you, though, since you won’t get any indication of quest areas.

1: Before Sun and Moon

To get this first book, you’ll have to complete a quest given by an unknown NPC South of Dainichi Mikoshi.

To encounter this Genshin NPC, you’ll have to glide down the cliff on the West of his location. Complete the quest Antigonus to earn the “Before Sun and Moon” book, following the map’s indications.

2: Hydrological Studies in Byakuyakoku

This book will require a bit of effort. You’ll have to solve a puzzle and complete the subsequent quest to progress. First, head to the location shown on the map. You’ll see a sort of maze down below, with several yellow lights glowing inside. Here are the steps to follow.

3: The Serpent and Drakes of Tokoyokoku

This is the easiest book to find. It costs 1,500 Mora and can be bought by speaking to Kuroda, the Editor from Yae Publishing House in Inazuma’s main city. Simply buy it from the NPC and you’ll validate the first quest book.

4: In the Light, Beneath the Shadow

Head to the Dainichi Mikoshi. At the location shown above, you’ll find a ruin guard with an explosive barrel on the side. Explode it to blow up the wall and reveal the path to the puzzle. Here are the steps follow to solve the puzzle and get the book:

5: Experimental records

You’re almost done with the quest, now. To progress further, head to the location below by gliding down to the island. You’ll be able to get a chest on the way. Then, step through the portal.

Follow the next steps and you’ll arrive at a trial. It includes three elemental pillars: Cryo, Electro, and Hydro. Monsters will come out of cages each time you activate one, and the book is hidden inside the Cryo monster’s cage.

After all that hard work, you’ll be able to give books to Ema and claim your sweet rewards.

Antigonus: Before Sun and Moon

Let’s talk about the Bathysmal Vishap Experimental Records lost book in Genshin Impact .

Make your way to the southern section of Dainichi Mikoshi. You should see a peninsula that’s jutting out and, below that, there’s a hidden ledge.

Speak to the two shades to get the Antigonus sidequest.

Next, go to the southernmost floating island that’s separate from most of Serpent’s Heart. From the fast travel point, face north and jump down. You should spot another shade.

Interact with the object nearby, then go to the marked location to activate the Ruin Guard. After defeating your opponent, you’ll receive Before Sun and Moon.
