Flight Attendant Cover Letter Writing Tips
Learning how to put together a cover letter for the specific job(s) you want will help you land more interviews.
You may be great with people and familiar with flight procedures, but do you know how to showcase these skills in a cover letter?
Show an airline you can ensure passenger comfort and safety with a fantastic cover letter, and you’ll be one step closer to landing a spot on their roster.
Use these three tips to write a flight attendant cover letter that proves you’re the right person to represent an airline:
1. Highlight your flight attendant skills
Flight attendants are responsible for ensuring an exceptional onboard experience, including keeping passengers calm during emergency situations.
Convince employers you’re the ideal candidate by showcasing your cabin crew experience, interpersonal skills , stress tolerance, service-oriented skills, and relevant training for responding to medical situations or aircraft emergencies throughout your cover letter.
To show employers you fulfill their requirements, highlight your strongest flight attendant technical skills when elaborating on your work history in the body of your cover letter.
These are several essential flight attendant hard skills airlines look for:
- Airline terminology
- Federal Aviation Regulations
- Plane evacuation protocols
- Emergency procedures and response
- CPR and First Aid
- Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)
However, a great flight attendant also possesses many soft skills . Check out these important flight attendant soft skills and try to emphasize ones that pertain to you throughout your cover letter:
- Attentiveness
- Cultural awareness
- Customer service skills
- Communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Adaptability
- People skills
- Collaboration
- Professionalism
- Conflict resolution
- Leadership skills
- Critical thinking
- Problem-solving skills
- Prioritization
- Language skills
- Ability to work under pressure
That’s a big list and it doesn’t show you much about writing. So here’s an example of how to incorporate these skills in your flight attendant cover letter:
With over 7 years of experience as a flight attendant, I have the customer service skills and practical knowledge you require as outlined in your job description.
Additionally, you may highlight these skills in the cover letter body with bullet points like this:
Allow me to draw attention to the major achievements of my resume, which I believe both reflect and exceed your expectations for applicants pursuing the flight attendant role: Completed over 2,000 hours of international and domestic flights within Boeing and Airbus commercial jets holding up to 400 passengers Mentored over 30 new flight attendants, providing training in customer service, safety techniques, and health and sanitary standards, improving overall service quality by 30% Consistently earned recognition from flight crew and received 93% positive feedback from passenger surveys
2. Use a standard cover letter format
Flight attendants serve as the face of an airline, so professionalism is vital. When hiring for a flight attendant, airlines seek people who are capable of upholding the cabin crew’s image — from maintaining a well-groomed appearance to responding to emerging situations in a polite and courteous manner.
To ensure your professionalism is reflected in your job application, use proper cover letter format to present your qualifications neatly. Communicating your skills in a well-organized cover letter will give employers the best possible first impression while enhancing its readability.
Here’s how to properly format your flight attendant cover letter:
- Set your cover letter margins at 1” to 1.5”
- Keep it straightforward and concise. The ideal cover letter length is 250–400 words.
- Choose a professional cover letter font and font size that are easy to read
- If you’re applying online, submit your job application as a PDF so it can’t be manipulated by accident
3. End with a convincing closing statement
Working as a flight attendant comes with the promise of constant travel and extensive travel perks. With the alluring nature of this job, you can expect countless applicants competing for the same spot.
Knowing how to end your cover letter convincingly will get employers interested in scheduling an interview to get to know you better in person, even if there’s heavy competition.
Unsure where to begin? Here’s how to write a strong flight attendant closing statement:
- Show your excitement for the opportunity. Working as a flight attendant involves long flight hours, working weekends and holidays, and being away from home often. So it’s important to show employers you have the passion to handle the stress that comes with this job and can stay committed to providing great hospitality to passengers at all times. For example,
In my current role at Delta Airlines, I have been a steady and reliable flight attendant, frequently earning commendations from my fellow flight attendants and crewmembers for my professionalism. I will be a consummate ambassador for your brand and provide excellent customer service that meets and exceeds your expectations.
- Align your talents to the job so employers can visualize how your skill-set will benefit the cabin crew. For instance,
I look forward to discussing how I can join the team at XYZ Airline and immediately assist the company with building a strong and friendly customer service brand.
- Thank the hiring manager for their time and consideration
- Include a call to action that encourages the hiring manager to reach out
Complete your job application with a flight attendant resume that expands on all the qualifications you highlighted in your cover letter.

Tips for Writing Flight Attendant Cover Letter
Individualize your flight attendant cover letter. For every flight position you apply for, ensure you have crafted a customized letter in line with the job's unique requirements. Each airline has its specific needs, unique company culture and flight specifics. By individualizing your document you can easily stand out.
Stress your skills in the cover letter. There are those unique skills you have that make you a special kind of flight attendant. Understand the job requirements fully and use your skills to emphasize qualifications the employer is looking for.
Make the most of flight attendant cover letter with experience examples. At times getting all the right points across is hard without an idea where to begin. A cover letter flight example will help you emphasize your skills and get the right points across while ensuring you don't miss any important detail.
Rather than generic statements such as ‘strong customer service skills' do it with examples. For cover letter for flight attendant position with no experience have examples of a job you worked in school, part-time job or volunteering project where your customer service abilities were exemplified to the completion of the job perfectly.
Customer care is at the heart of a flight attendant job. Use positive feedback examples highlighting your customer relation skills for instance awards and satisfaction surveys. Use compelling examples showing excellence in customer relations and the hiring manager won't miss it.
Ability to solve problems as they come up is important. Indicate this in your sample of cover letter for flight attendant position by explaining how you did this in a previous job. Indicating clear instances of solving problems tells the screener you can be relied upon in a plane in case of any matter. Use instances where you offered first aid, communicated flight changes, cooled down a difficult and rowdy passenger or stepped up for a coworker who was unwell.
Team effort must run throughout your cover letter even in flight attendant cover letter no experience applications. Flight attendants are always working in a team and the screener would be interested in applicants who have the ability to work with others and even show leadership where necessary. Mention crew teams and flights you've worked with plus shared duties that guaranteed a successful, comfortable flight. Quantify them and the potential employer will not miss them.
Revise your work and reread. The cover letter should never be submitted without having reread to rectify glaring grammatical mistakes, spelling errors and wrong names and titles. If you know the hiring manager's name, capture their name right and the proper spelling of the employer's name. Ask another person to read the cover letter for you or simply read it audibly to hear it afresh and note any gaping error. Use cover letter flight attendant example to capture every detail to avoid leaving out any critical information required.

IVANN ENRIQUEZ
Applying in Philippine Airlines
November 27, 2015.
I received a call from Philippine Airlines’ HR, she asked me if I’m still interested with my application for cabin crew. I said that I’m up for a training with PAL Express and she replied “thank you for applying”. At that time, I was very confused because I also wanted to try in PAL so I sent them a message “Hi good afternoon, this is Ivann Renz Enriquez. Awhile ago I received a call regarding my application for PAL. Can I still go to the impact interview even though I have a pending application in Pal express?” She called back then and told me that it is okay to have an impact interview but it will be up to me to decide whether I will choose Pal or Palex. I told her that I will attend the impact interview and she immediately asked me some few questions like height, age, etc. She even informed me to wait for a text message regarding the interview..
After a few minutes, I received a message.
Few days before the impact interview, I had my 4R pictures taken, prepared a copy of resume, tor and sss.
December 12, 2015
Impact interview.
I woke up early and prepared for my impact interview with PAL. I got to PNB financial bldg by 7:30am. There were a lot of applicants seated in the lobby of the building. By 8:30am we were asked to line up per group (I was part pf group A). We were then ushered to where the interview will be held. We passed through the HR and the clinic.
When we reached the function room, we seated on monoblock chairs facing the wall. There were 2 interviewers plus Ms. Sarah from HR. They call 3 persons at a time. After some minutes, my name was called along with 2 other applicants. We proceeded at the back and waited for our individual turn.
The impact interview started with a greeting, then I was instructed to tell something about myself which includes the topics; “Why do you want to be a cabin crew?”, “Why should we hire you?” And “What do you know about the job?”. After my spiels, they didn’t ask me further questions.
Ms. Sarah called names one by one and gave them a piece of paper and were told to read it outside and look for Ms. Trish. At that time, I think we’re only down to 10 from 20 plus applicants.
We were called again one by one and was asked additional questions that were more personal like “What do you do for fun?” And “What irritates you?”. The interviewers instructed me to roll up my sleeves for them to check my arms and elbows. After the interview, they handed me a piece of paper where the word “passed” was written and I was instructed to look for Ms. Trish outside.
I didn’t even look for Ms. Trish because she stood up already by the time I opened the door. I gave her the paper and she congratulated me and handed me a slip for the initial medical.
Initial Medical
Ms. Trish told me the way to the clinic and I asked her if there was a restroom and she replied back that it was just near the elevator, so I confidently walked through the hallway and saw a restroom sign. I fixed myself up and I looked in the mirror and my face was very red maybe due to nervousness haha. When I was done, I thought I knew where to go but I was wrong so I asked a staff where the clinic was located. He was kind and he even guided me to the clinic.
I saw 3 ladies waiting and they told me to pass my slip to the nurse. The nurse assisted me to the end part of the clinic and measured my height and weight, she even asked me to roll up my pants for her to measure my ankle. She told me to wait for the visual check.
I was called and the doctor instructed me to identify the colored mosaic numbers to test whether I’m color blind or not. He also instructed me to read the snellen chart. He then wrote the results on my medical slip.
The nurse told us to proceed to the next room which was the HR for our orientation.
Orientation
We were instructed by an HR staff to sit down and she started the orientation. She discussed the standards that must be followed by the applicants in terms of their appearance. Also, she told us that punctuality is a must and a great factor in the airline industry.
After the orientation, we were asked whether what time do we want to have our exam. My co-applicants said 8am, so I said 8am too.
December 17, 2015
Same with PAL Express, it was held at Profiles Asia Pacific in Ortigas. Same thing was done, I registered and I proceeded to the testing room. The only difference was you need to pass the BMAA exam first before you can proceed to the second part. The BMAA exam was exactly the same with Palex so I knew some of the answers already. All of us passed the first part of the exam and we continued with the second part which took us an hour to finish. It was more on psychological and mathematical questions.
January 6, 2015
I called Philippine Airlines HR to ask regarding the result of my exam. The staff told me that I passed. She even added that the next step is EPI or simply the final interview.
February 29, 2016
I received a call from Ms. Trish, she asked me whether I’m still interested with Philippine Airlines and I said yes then she told me that my executive panel interview will be held on Thursday, March 3. Late afternoon, I received an email regarding the details of the EPI.

March 3, 2016
Executive panel interview.
At 7:30am, I was already in PNB Financial Center and exactly 8am we were instructed to proceed to the HR office. We submitted all the necessary requirements and Ms. Krizzia (PAL HR) briefed us and said that if ever we didn’t make it, we can still re-apply after 1 year. We were then told to stay in the waiting area.
Our names were called one by one for the interview and my name was called third to the last. My interview went well since most of the questions were based on my resume. After the interview I went back to my seat and minutes later Ms. Krizzia called my name and we proceeded to her office cubicle. She told me that I passed the EPI and I will have my medical exams on Monday. She instructed me to fill out a form to be submitted that day and gave me other necessary forms to take home with me. About 80% of the applicants passed the EPI that day. (There were 15 applicants.)

I went to PAL Medical in Andrews Ave. at exactly 7:30am. I saw my co-applicants waiting to be called by Ms. Evay. When it was my turn, I handed my medical checklist/appointment slip and Ms. Evay gave me a form to be filled up. After that, I was instructed to proceed to the laboratory dept. to give my urine and stool samples and to have my cbc.
I went back to Ms. Evay and she told me that the next step is x-ray. After having the x-ray, Ms. Evay instructed me to proceed with the dental and eye examination. The dentist examined my teeth and she told me to have a panoramic x-ray to be submitted as soon as possible.
My eye exam went well though I have a 20/40 vision on my right eye and 20/20 on my left eye. The doctor didn’t say anything and just instructed me to go back to the counter and ask Ms. Evay for the next exams.
I went back to Ms. Evay again and she handed me a folder with the form I just filled up. I went to the flight surgeon dept. then I gave the folder to an intern and I had my height and weight check. She handed me a form for the ECG, I just filled up the name and age part because I didn’t know my height and weight (I forgot to ask the intern).
Nurse Lovely, called my name and checked my blood pressure and told me to proceed to the ECG room and instructed me to take off my shirt, shoes and wrist watch. After the ECG, my co-applicants and I waited for any further instructions of nurse Lovely. After some minutes, she told us to have our drug test first and just come back after lunch for the physical exam because there were a lot of applicants and employees to be examined by the doctor.
The drug test was held in another building, so we looked for it. Upon entering the establishment there was a guy in the counter and he told us to fill up a form for the drug test. After filling up the form, we handed it to the lab staff and she told us to present a valid ID then she gave us a small bottle for the urine. After giving the urine sample, she told me to sign on a log book. She captured a photo of me and scanned my fingerprints.

We went back to the flight surgeon dept. by 1:30pm and waited for our physical examination. The physical examination was just like a normal check up with a pediatrician. The doctor gave me my medical forms inside a folder and instructed me to hand it over to Ms. Evay.

I just went to PAL Medical to submit my panoramic x-ray to the dentist. I waited for awhile until my name was called. The dentist checked the x-ray and she handed me a slip of paper and told me to give it to Ms. Evay (Written in the paper was: Fit for work – dental).

Re-assessment.
*Last friday, I received a text message regarding the schedule of my re-assessment.
I went to PNB Financial Center at exactly 13:00, we then proceeded to the HR office and went to a testing room. Ms. Sarah told us that the result of the re-assessment will determine our training schedule. If ever we didn’t make it, we can come back after a month for the 2nd re-assessment and that will be our last chance or else we need to repeat all the processes back from the impact interview.
We were instructed to roll up our sleeves, and remove the blazers (for girls). There were 2 panelists, Ms. Sarah and a cabin manager. They called our names one by one, when my name was called I proceeded infront of them and they instructed me to show my arms and elbows and they checked it if there were any visible scars or marks. They will also let you show your best smile. Once done, they will thank you.
After assessing all the applicants, they called our names again and told us to proceed outside, some of the applicants stayed in the room and they were put on conditional status and they need to come next month for the second re-assessment. After that, they instructed us again to come inside and Ms.Sarah congratulated us and told us that we will be informed on Monday thru text regarding our training schedule.

My pleasure 🙂
Did they call you for EPI already?
How’s your application so far? 😃
Great! Can’t wait to see your adventures with Philippine Airlines.. See you in the sky!
Thanks! Also can’t wait for your Emirates journey. Good luck on your training, see you in the sky!
Thank you! I’ll be flying to the UAE on April 29th and my training will start on May 10th 🙂 I am so excited! Anyway, best of luck to you, too! Please update us with your training photos alright!
That’s great, I always read your blog posts, so keep us updated too. Fly high Ryu!
Ivan, I received a news from my friend who was successful at the Philippine Airlines interview. Something went really wrong, I am just worried, were you affected by this?
Haven’t heard any news or updates as of now, I sent you a direct message in instagram.
Good luck!! When will be your training? 😊
Hi Jeanelle! Thanks. No tentative date yet, but probably it will start on July or August.
Hi, Ivann! I am waiting for the schedule of my EPI. Any tips? 😊
Hi! Just be confident and always smile, treat the panelists as if they are your passengers. They want those applicants who are bit of a storyteller. You can also prepare some answers in your mind for those basic questions like why do you want to be a cabin crew? & why should we hire you? But sometimes they ask based on your CV/resume, just be prepared. And btw, answer them complete or beyond expected so they won’t ask further questions. Good Luck to you! Hope to fly with you soon.
Thank you! What do you think are the common mistakes during the EPI? And what happened with your application with PAL Express? Mas nauna pa talaga training date mo sa PAL?
Hello Ivann! Tanong ko lang, is the hiring process of PALex the same as PAL?
Hi! With my experience, yes they have the same process.
With PALex ba, kailangan pa i-screen ng President?
Sa ngayon, hindi na nagsscreen ang president. But with palex, maybe yung VP will screen or he’ll be part of the panelists ng final interview
Thank you. What happened with your PALexpress application pala? Nauna talaga training date mo sa PAL?
There was a re-assessment (March 2016) and I failed. So it’s just timing with my application with PAL.
Hi! What happens during the reassessment?
They screen the applicants based on their appearance and readiness for training.
Hi, Ivann! What are their concerns regarding dental exam?
I have a missing molar, yung pinakadulo so hindi naman kita pag nag-smile. Dapat ba complete set of teeth? Will they allow dentures? Root canal? Bridged tooth?
Hi! Dentures are not allowed but I’m not sure with the other stuff. All I know is one of the requirements is a complete set of teeth.
Hi! May I know why you failed the reassessment with PALex?
Hi! Almost all applicants on my re-assessment batch, failed. We don’t know the reason… some thought palex wants new applicants instead of us since we were idle for 7 months.
Oh? Just like that, they didn’t tell you why? Weird. This year naman sunod sunod ang recruitment nila.
Anyway, do you know anything about PAL’s freeze hiring? We’re still waiting for our EPI schedule.
Yeah, kahit kami nagtataka kasi after nun, bigla na sila hiring ulit.
As of the moment, yes Pal is on freeze hiring. The last batch of icct is 17-03 and I’ve flown with one of them and she said that other applicants were told to wait for PAL or they can endorse them to PALex.
I thought may 4th batch pa for this year. Applicant from November 2016 pa ako. Hahaha. The last time they called was in August, mentioning something about Cebu basing. Before that, yes, we were endorsed sa PALex but I didn’t go. Pero a fellow applicant told me na wala daw nakapasa nung pumunta yung iba. I guess they prioritize their prospects from the regular Roadtrip Recruitment? Hehe
Hi Sir! I attended the PAL Ex open day last Saturday (March 3, 2018). The process was almost the same. Initial medical, impact interview, deliberations, interview with mr. Leonides Peña and the last stage for that day was the IQ and aptitude exam. Thankfully, I made it through til the exam. The examiner told me to keep my lines open for their call. I just want to ask if it is okay for me to call the HR for the result instead of waiting. Thank you in advance ❤
Hi Paulina! Yes it’s okay to call the HR once or twice but not too much for any update. Good luck on your application.
Hello, Ivann! Would you know if PAL is still on freeze hiring as of the moment? Thank you!
Hi! No idea but I think PAL is still on freeze hiring as of the moment.
Hi Ivann! May I ask what was done during the eye exam? My vision is not 20/20 so Im a little worried. Thank you!
Good afternoon! For the eye exam, there will be Ishihara’s test to check for color blindness and you’ll be instructed to read a part of the Snellen chart.
Do you have any ideas if PAL still have the reassessment stage now, after the final medical? From the most recent blog that I’ve read wala nang reassessment siyang dinaanan but I’m not sure of the timeline.
Thanks in advance for your answer!
Hi! I don’t have any idea for this year’s process. I think they only include reassessment when the applications were put on hold for a long time. It is to check whether the applicants are still qualified.
I see. Thank you so much for the reply! How would you assess the passing rate sa EPI? Kasi sa Impact sobrang konti lng ng kinukuha. I will be having my EPI tomorrow. Nervewracking since matagal din kami napending. pero I must face it now or never haha
Hi, Chiko! How was your EPI? And when did you have your impact interview? Isa din ako sa matagal na na-pending ang application e. Haha. For EPI na din pero hindi ko alam kung tatawagan pa ako. Haha
